Makin' it Real 2008

Makin' it Real 2008 The Makin’ it Real Awards are back and they are looking for the best of the best. Do you think you’ve masterminded the best volunteering campaign in the UK? Know someone who has?

Then enter: get the praise, the kudos, the cash and get your name onto a website where the results don’t show up as your MySpace, Bebo or Facebook.

The Youth Action Network has been running the awards since 2006 and has two categories.
1. Youth Volunteers Award
2. Special Worker’s Award

The youth volunteer awards are groups of young people who have had the determination to put a plan into action no matter what obstacles they faced and really make a difference to the lives of people in their community,

The special worker’s award is based on outstanding youth workers who have gone that extra mile to offer their time and support to young people.

Like all other awards, this one has prizes to. Except these are decent. First place winners in the Youth Volunteer section will get £1,000 for their project, certificates for everybody and a trophy.

Every year has had excellent entries and winners. Last year’s winner of the young volunteers’ award were ‘Body and Soul’. Their project travelled around England speaking about their experiences of HIV. They created a project that increased awareness of the need to practice safe sex and break down the stigma of the disease.

The Awards are open to any group of two or more young volunteers (aged under 25) who are based in England and have taken an idea and made it real.
