Millennium Volunteers
Millennium Volunteers (MV) is aimed at young people aged 16-24. As an MV you volunteer your time to help others by doing something you enjoy. Everyone volunteers for different reasons.
- To build confidence and self esteem. Volunteering can help you do things you thought you couldn’t – even things you thought weren’t possible!
- To make new friends. Volunteering can help you mix with new people who are into the same things, forming new friends on the way.
- To make a difference. Upset that there is nothing for young people to do in your community? Talk to your MV Project and make a difference!
- To improve your chances of getting a job. Volunteering on your CV is something employers will respect and may give you another stepping stone towards your dream job.
- To gain new skills. Something you’ve always wanted to do? Then go for it and gain valuable skills along the way.
- Are you between 16 and 24?
- Want to get involved in local issues you care about?
- Want to gain experience, confidence and skills?
- Interested in getting involved in projects such as sports coaching, environmental issues, youth leadership, music and dance?
Being a MV is all about getting involved in local issues you care about. So you can make a real difference to others, whilst at the same time gaining experience, confidence and skills. Through volunteering you can make a positive difference to your own life and your community.
If you are already volunteering, you need to discuss this with your local project when you sign up for MV. To gain a MV Certificate your volunteering has to be accredited by one of our MV Projects. You may be able to count some previous volunteering towards your MV Certificate, but this will need to be discussed and agreed with the MV Project you sign up with.
If you are aged between 16 and 24 you can be a MV whatever your background or circumstances.
