IP1 in Ipswich - the community magazine
By Jonathan, from IpswichI started doing events and articles about five years ago, in Nottingham with Millennium Volunteers. I was doing such things as music festivals (so people who have never had a musical instrument can play), art events (for people to exhibit work), training sessions, seminars (to offer guidence), and now I do the same back home and write articles for the magazine in the town of Ipswich.
The main objective of mine is to show everyone that this society has a talented underbelly within its culturally barren landscape. I write and work to show people that, with determination and passion, anybody can get where they want to go.
For instance my last article was about Marisa Hopkins, a fashion textiles designer. In this article I try to show the reader how these people get somewhere and that everything is open to anybody, whether they are of a different race, age, sex, ability or class. I just like to inspire people to do something, as people have done for me.
The main thing for me is how much of a difference we can make as volunteers, with using up some of our spare time to help society and peoples lives.
