Wouldn't normally volunteer? Nor would they ...

Barnardo’s has launched a new short film that has taken five people who at face value wouldn’t fit the stereotype of the average volunteer. But that’s why we love it.

No Limits Arfa 's Happy Smile

Take a trip through the volunteering ventures of these 16-25 year olds who have turned their lives around through helping their local communities and projects.

Andy’s been known to Barnardo’s since he was six for various reasons. He’s been the street hoodie, the excluded pupil, the kid people gave up on. Now he’s a qualified tree surgeon and helping others that faced the issues he once did.

Collette has Downs Syndrome but never sees this as a barrier to getting on with her life and helping others. Follow Collette as she begins a new volunteering project with the help of her adviser at Westminster Employment.

Danny was a crack and heroin user with a string of convictions and a life of insecurity. He’s now got stability and hopes to be junior warden in conservation. This was impossible to think of before he joined the National Trust as a volunteer.

Arfa realised how lucky she was when growing up and seeing her mother care for disabled young people. She has followed in her steps and manages to help at a local Barnardo’s project while studying.

These are just some of the young people featured on a new short film by Barnardo’s. They show how people have changed their lives through volunteering their time. They have prospects, skills and are now helping people and communities which they are part of.

Still think you couldn’t volunteer? Neither did they.
